Edge CTS4 vs CTS3: Specs, Full Lineup and November 3 Release Date

The Edge CTS3 has been the most common screen on the A-pillar of a working diesel for years. On October 20, 2026, Edge replaced it. The new CTS4 platform brings a bigger 5.5 inch touchscreen, a dual-core processor with 3.4 times the power, four times the memory and a boot time Edge rates at under 12 seconds. It also brings a new set of part numbers across every Insight, Evolution, Juice with Attitude, EZ, EZX and Pulsar package. This guide covers what changed, what it means on a Power Stroke, Cummins or Duramax, which CTS4 to buy for your truck, and when it ships.

Pre-order status: The Edge CTS4 is on pre-order. Edge's official release date is November 3, 2026, and no CTS4 can ship before then. Place your pre-order now and it ships as soon as our allocation arrives from Edge.

The quick answer

  • What it is: the CTS4 is Edge's next-generation in-cab monitor and tuning platform. It supersedes the CTS3, and most part numbers change only their suffix, from -3 to -4.
  • What is new: a 5.5 inch screen (21% more viewing area), a 1.7 GHz dual-core 64-bit processor, 2 GB of RAM, 60 FPS gauges, rear quick-action buttons, Maintenance Minder, enhanced peak recall, custom alert messages, a direct RCA backup camera input and USB-C.
  • What it costs: the monitor-only Insight CTS4 is $599.95, $50 more than the Insight CTS3. Power packages run from $799.95 to $1,599.95.
  • Should you upgrade? Buying new, yes: the CTS4 is the platform Edge will develop for going forward. Already running a CTS3? Upgrade if the slow boot and laggy gauge changes bug you, or if you want the camera input and Maintenance Minder. Juice owners can swap just the screen with the Juice CTS4 Upgrade Kit.
  • When it ships: November 3, 2026.

Figure 1. Edge's launch benchmarks for the three waits CTS3 owners complain about most. The cold-boot gap is the one you feel every single morning.

Those three numbers are the whole story for most CTS3 owners. The CTS3 was never short on features; it was short on patience. Forty seconds of boot means you are often a mile down the road before your gauges come up, which is exactly when a cold engine and a heavy trailer make you want them. On the CTS4 the screen is live before you pull out of the driveway.

Figure 2. Every core hardware spec on the CTS4 is a multiple of the CTS3. The memory upgrade is the largest jump, and it is what lets the CTS4 run more gauges at 60 FPS without lag.

Every new CTS4 feature, explained

A bigger, faster 5.5 inch screen

Half an inch of diagonal sounds small, but it works out to 21% more area. Combined with the jump to a 60 FPS refresh rate, needles and digital readouts move smoothly instead of stepping. Edge calls it up to six times smoother than the slowest CTS3 refresh. The screen is capacitive and auto-dimming, so it responds like a phone and does not blind you on a dark highway.

Dual-core processor and 2 GB of memory

The 1.7 GHz dual-core 64-bit chip and 2 GB of LPDDR4 are why the CTS4 boots in under 12 seconds and changes a gauge in about 10. Edge also says the extra headroom is there for more complex vehicle communications and future software features, which matters because the CTS4 gets new capabilities through Wi-Fi updates over its life.

Programmable quick-action buttons

New buttons on the back of the housing can be set to the things you do most: read trouble codes, start and stop a data log, switch to the backup camera, or change power levels on compatible tuning systems. On a washboard road with a trailer behind you, a physical button beats hunting for a spot on a touchscreen.

Maintenance Minder is back

CTS2 owners had service reminders and lost them on the CTS3. Edge says customer feedback brought them back. Set intervals for oil, filters, fluids and tires, and the CTS4 reminds you when they come due. For a truck that racks up towing miles, that is cheap insurance on a truck you plan to keep for a decade.

Enhanced peak recall and 31 gauge layouts

Peak values, such as maximum boost or EGT on the last pull, now display alongside your live gauges and on a recall screen afterward. Edge also added updated graphics, carousel-style screen navigation and 31 built-in layouts with custom colors.

Direct backup camera input

The CTS4 takes a camera on a direct RCA connection with no adapter. If you drive an older Super Duty, 2nd Gen Ram or GMT800 that never had a factory camera, the CTS4 plus a camera turns the screen into a hitch-up tool.

Custom alert messages, USB-C and better Wi-Fi

Both generations warn you with sound and a visual flag when a reading crosses a threshold. The CTS4 lets you write the message, so "EGT high, ease off" means something specific to your truck. A USB-C cable is included for computer updates, and Edge improved Wi-Fi performance for over-the-air updates.

Built-in performance tests

0-60 MPH, eighth-mile and quarter-mile timers are built in, with no extra equipment. Handy for seeing what a new turbo, injectors or tune actually did.

What the CTS4 does for a diesel that tows

A gauge monitor is not a horsepower part, but on a working diesel it is often the first thing we recommend, because the factory cluster hides the numbers that matter when you are loaded. Depending on your truck, the CTS4 can show:

  • Exhaust gas temperature (EGT): the single best indicator of how hard the engine is working on a grade. Many late-model trucks report a factory exhaust temperature, but that sensor usually sits after the turbo. For a true pre-turbo reading, add the Edge EAS Starter Kit with EGT cable (98620, $199.95).
  • Transmission temperature: critical on the 68RFE, 6R140, 10R140, Allison and 10L1000 when towing heavy.
  • Boost and fuel rail pressure: early warnings for a sticking turbo, a weak lift pump or a failing CP3 or CP4.
  • Coolant and oil temperature: the difference between backing off on a long grade and cooking a head gasket.
  • DPF soot level and regen status: on supported diesels, so you can plan around an active regen instead of shutting the truck off in the middle of one.
  • Trouble codes: read and clear supported DTCs on the spot, without a scan tool.

Pair those readings with custom alerts and the CTS4 warns you before a problem turns into a tow bill. That is the case for a monitor on any diesel, modified or not.

Which Edge CTS4 is right for your truck?

CTS4 is a platform, not a single product. Every version uses the same 5.5 inch screen and hardware. What changes is whether, and how, it adds power.

Should you upgrade from a CTS3 to a CTS4?

Edge's own product team compared the jump to going from an iPhone 15 to an iPhone 18. That is a fair way to frame it: the CTS3 still works, and nothing it does today stops working on November 3. The question is whether the improvements are worth the money to you.

Your situation Our advice
Buying your first Edge monitor or tuner Buy CTS4. The $50 difference on the Insight is small, and CTS4 is the platform that will get future updates.
CTS3 owner who tows often and hates the boot time Upgrade. Under 12 seconds vs about 40 is the change you will notice every day.
Older truck with no backup camera Upgrade. The direct RCA input makes adding a camera simple.
Juice with Attitude CS2, CTS2 or CTS3 owner Get the Juice CTS4 Upgrade Kit. Keep your module, upgrade the screen for $529.95.
CTS3 owner using it mostly as an occasional code reader Keep your CTS3. Spend the money on the parts the monitor is telling you about.
CTS3 installed in a dash pod mount Check your mount. EAS accessories carry over, but dash pod mounts are the noted exception.

Installing the Edge CTS4

Video: Edge Products, "How to Install Your Edge CTS4 | Quick 3-Minute Guide."

The Insight CTS4 is a plug-in install that most owners finish in well under an hour, with most of that time spent routing the cable cleanly.

  1. Pick a mount. A-pillar mounts give the cleanest look and keep the screen in your sightline. Your existing CTS3 mount will likely work unless it is a dash pod.
  2. Route the cable. Run it from the mount to the OBD-II port under the dash, tucking it behind trim panels and away from pedals.
  3. Plug in and power up. Connect to the OBD-II port with the key on. The CTS4 identifies the vehicle and the supported parameters.
  4. Update over Wi-Fi. Connect to a network and pull the latest software before you set up layouts. The included USB-C cable is the backup option.
  5. Add accessories. Plug in an EGT probe, pressure sensor or camera through the EAS and RCA inputs.
  6. Build your screens. Choose layouts, set alert thresholds, program the rear buttons and enter Maintenance Minder intervals.

Power packages add steps. Juice and Pulsar modules connect inline at the engine, EZ and EZX modules plug into factory connectors, and Evolution flashes the ECM through the OBD-II port. Follow the instructions for your exact kit.

Edge CTS4 frequently asked questions

When does the Edge CTS4 ship?Edge opened CTS4 pre-sales on October 20, 2026 and set the official release for November 3, 2026. Units cannot ship before that date. Pre-orders placed with Alligator Performance ship as soon as our allocation arrives from Edge.
Does the CTS4 replace the CTS3?Yes. CTS4 is the next generation of Edge's in-cab platform and supersedes the CTS3 across the Insight, Evolution, Juice with Attitude, EZ, EZX and Pulsar packages. Most part numbers simply change their suffix from -3 to -4, for example the Insight CTS3 84130-3 becomes the Insight CTS4 84130-4.
What is the part number for the Edge Insight CTS4?The monitor-only Edge Insight CTS4 is part number 84130-4. The Insight+ CTS4 with a custom tune license is 84140-4, the Evolution CTS4 Diesel is 85500, the Evolution CTS4 Gas is 85800, and Juice with Attitude CTS4 kits run from 31500-4 to 31507-4 depending on your Cummins.
How much faster is the CTS4 than the CTS3?Edge rates the CTS4 at 3.4 times the processing power of the CTS3, with a cold boot of under 12 seconds versus about 40, entry to the monitor screen in about 3 seconds versus 10, and parameter changes in about 10 seconds versus 20. Live data refreshes at 60 frames per second, compared with 10 to 30 on the CTS3.
Does the Insight CTS4 add horsepower? No. The Insight CTS4 is a monitor and diagnostic tool and does not change your engine calibration. If you want power, choose an Evolution CTS4, a Juice with Attitude CTS4, or an EZ, EZX or Pulsar kit that pairs a power module with the Insight CTS4. The Insight can also be upgraded later by internet update to Evolution or Insight+ functionality on supported vehicles.
Will my CTS3 accessories work with the CTS4?Edge confirmed the current Expandable Accessory System (EAS) lineup works with CTS4, so EGT probes, pressure and temperature sensors carry over. Most CTS3 mounts carry over too, with dash pod mounts as the noted exception. Backup cameras now plug straight into a direct RCA input with no adapter.
Do I need an aftermarket EGT probe with the CTS4?Not always. Many late-model trucks report a factory exhaust temperature that the CTS4 can display. Those sensors usually sit downstream of the turbo, so if you tow heavy and want a true pre-turbo reading, add the Edge EAS Starter Kit with EGT cable (98620).
Can the CTS4 read and clear trouble codes and run a DPF regen? It reads and clears supported diagnostic trouble codes on every model. On supported diesel applications it can display DPF soot level and regen status, and Evolution CTS4 versions such as the L5P Duramax kit can trigger a manual regeneration from the screen.
Is the CTS4 worth upgrading to if I already have a CTS3?If your CTS3 does everything you need, it is still a capable monitor. Upgrade if you want the faster boot and gauge response, the bigger 5.5 inch screen, the rear quick-action buttons, Maintenance Minder, or direct backup camera input. Juice with Attitude owners can keep their existing power module and swap only the screen with the Juice CTS4 Upgrade Kit (83601-4).
