Think of the air your L5P pulls in as a shared resource, with the factory Y bridge deciding who gets what. According to Wehrli, the stock bridge sends about 70 percent of that charged air to the driver side cylinder head and leaves only 30 percent for the passenger side. That uneven split means one bank of cylinders is always working with less than it could be, no matter how well the turbo is doing its job. The Wehrli High Flow Y Bridge Kit replaces that part with a design that feeds both heads evenly and flows 33 percent more air than the factory bridge, based on Wehrli's own figures. When the air is shared properly, Wehrli says you can expect sharper throttle response, quicker turbo spool, and lower exhaust gas temperatures while towing, which is exactly where most owners want the help. The best part is that it works on a stock truck with no tuning required, so you can bolt it on and feel the difference without touching anything else. If you decide to add a tune and a larger turbo down the road, Wehrli says this bridge gives you room to reach horsepower numbers that a stock bridge simply cannot support. For anyone who tows heavy or has plans to build a truck over time, it is a smart first step that keeps paying off as the rest of the build comes together.
Wehrli casts this bridge in the USA from 356 aluminum and then finishes it with precision CNC machining at WCFab, followed by a custom powder coat. The air inlet tract is enlarged and port matched to the opening of the throttle valve, which opens up the available flow path from the throttle body into the manifold. Instead of relying on spacers, the casting has MAP sensor mounting bosses built in, and those bosses place the sensing elements out of the flow path where oil and soot would otherwise collect. Wehrli says that location helps the sensors last longer and keep their readings accurate over time. The same part fits both factory configurations, with single MAP sensor systems on 2017-2022 trucks and dual MAP sensor systems on 2023-2026 trucks, and the earlier trucks get a billet aluminum plug for the second sensor port. The kit arrives with the install hardware and the critical wire harness mounting points, so the factory harness can be secured properly once the new bridge is in place. It is compatible with OEM and aftermarket air intake systems as well as drop in style turbo upgrades, and Wehrli describes it as an emissions compatible bolt on upgrade. Pair it with custom tuning and upgraded turbochargers, and Wehrli says the bridge helps you make the most of the extra airflow those parts create.
