Let Your LB7 Stretch Its Legs

A long bed Duramax was made to put in miles, and carrying only 34 gallons of diesel can feel limiting when the truck has a long day ahead. The S&B 10-1013-1 65 Gallon High Capacity Fuel Tank gives 2001-2004 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD Crew Cab Long Bed trucks with the LB7 Duramax an additional 31 gallons of capacity over the original tank. With that much diesel onboard, long towing runs and cross country drives can involve fewer fuel stops, giving you more control over when and where you pull off the road. S&B also squeezes 3 more gallons into this tank than competing options, which is useful when maximizing driving range is the whole reason for upgrading in the first place. Even with the major increase in capacity, the tank directly replaces the factory unit without cutting, drilling, or special modifications, keeping installation from becoming an unnecessary fabrication project. Gooseneck and fifth wheel compatibility means you can add range while keeping the towing capability that makes a heavy duty long bed so useful, and transfer pump readiness gives working trucks even more flexibility. For an LB7 that regularly sees trailers, highways, and long stretches between stops, this 65 gallon tank makes better use of the truck by letting it stay on the road longer.

Built To Work With Your Factory Fuel System

The S&B 10-1013-1 combines approximately 65 gallons of capacity with an OEM style S&B sending unit designed for compatible 2001-2004 LB7 Duramax applications. After a complete fill, the fuel gauge remains at full for approximately the first 4 to 5 gallons of consumption before beginning to move through its normal operating range. GM's monitoring system can occasionally interpret that stationary gauge as a problem and temporarily move the reading to empty, but restarting the engine restores the gauge position until normal movement begins. The factory distance to empty calculation cannot be reprogrammed for the larger tank, so its displayed mileage will indicate approximately half of the actual remaining driving range. S&B also gives the tank a larger bottom surface area than the original unit, which results in more fuel remaining in reserve when the low fuel indicator activates. For additional fuel system flexibility, the tank is transfer pump ready and includes a 1/2 inch NPT embedded fitting along with the required mounting straps. Buyers should note that the tank does not include a drain or sump and is not compatible with the factory skid plate, making these worthwhile considerations before installation.
