Turn Long Hauls Into Fewer Fuel Stops

A 26 gallon factory tank can start feeling pretty small when your Duramax spends its days covering serious miles, and the S&B 10-1023-1 gives you a lot more freedom between fill ups. Built specifically for 2001-2004 Silverado and Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD Crew Cab Short Bed trucks with the LB7 6.6L Duramax, this replacement tank increases capacity to approximately 62 gallons. That extra fuel can make a noticeable difference on long highway runs, towing trips, and workdays where stopping for diesel only slows down the schedule. S&B manages to fit that capacity into a direct replacement design that installs without cutting, drilling, or special modifications, making such a substantial upgrade surprisingly straightforward. It is also compatible with gooseneck and fifth wheel configurations, so owners who regularly put their Duramax to work can gain additional range without giving up those popular towing setups. Better yet, the tank holds 10 gallons more than competing replacement tanks, helping you make the most of the available space beneath the truck. When your goal is to spend more time behind the wheel and less time hunting for the next fuel station, this S&B tank turns additional capacity into a practical upgrade you can appreciate every time the miles start adding up.

Engineered Around The LB7 Fuel System

The S&B 10-1023-1 is designed specifically around 2001-2004 LB7 Duramax applications and includes the components needed to integrate its 62 gallon capacity with the truck's fuel system. An included OEM style S&B sending unit works with factory fuel systems as well as aftermarket lift pumps, while integrated venturi jet pump technology addresses common quarter tank fuel delivery issues associated with aftermarket lift pump setups. The midship tank measures 79.25 by 17.74 by 20.82 inches and includes mounting straps, a drain, a sump, and an embedded 1/2 inch NPT fitting for added fuel system versatility. Transfer pump compatibility provides another useful option for owners who need their truck configured around demanding work or towing applications. Because the larger tank has more bottom surface area than the original tank, more fuel remains in reserve when the low fuel indicator comes on, and GM's distance to empty calculation cannot be recalibrated for the increased capacity. This means the displayed distance to empty will indicate roughly half of the actual remaining range, and high flow truck stop nozzles will not fill the tank automatically. Buyers should also account for the tank sitting approximately 5 inches lower than the original tank and the fact that the factory skid plate is not compatible with this installation.
