Purpose Built Damping Inside A Larger Body

FOX builds the 987-24-074 around an impact extruded 6061 T6 aluminum body measuring 2.5 inches in diameter, providing both increased damping capacity and efficient heat dissipation. A Type II clear anodized finish protects the aluminum body against corrosion while helping preserve the shock's surface through continued exposure to demanding driving conditions. Inside, an internal floating piston separates the shock oil from the high pressure nitrogen charge, helping maintain consistent damping as the suspension cycles. FOX pairs this architecture with high flow velocity sensitive damping that responds according to piston movement, giving the shock controlled behavior across different road and terrain inputs. A 5/8 inch hard chrome shaft provides a durable foundation for repeated suspension movement under the weight and demands of a heavy duty truck. The shock offers 4.39 inches of travel with an extended length of 15.69 inches and a compressed length of 11.3 inches.
