The Range module disables Dynamic Fuel Management so the engine can stay in V8 mode, and it also turns off the Auto Start/Stop system that shuts the engine down when you come to a stop. Meanwhile, the Insight CTS3 sits in the cab and shows you what the truck is doing in real time, so you are watching the results instead of guessing. You can swipe between screens set up for towing, performance, or economy depending on what the day calls for. It also reads and clears trouble codes, which is a real help when a check engine light shows up far from your shop. Edge describes the kit as plug and play with no permanent modifications, so you can make the change without committing the truck to it.

The Hardware Behind The Screen And The Module

The Insight CTS3 is a full color 5 inch capacitive touch screen with auto dimming, so it stays easy to read from midday glare to a dark highway. It plugs into the OBDII port, while the Range DFM module plugs directly into the ECM. Gauges and backgrounds are highly customizable, and a swipe moves you from one screen to the next. A built-in performance meter measures 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times, and an integrated data logger records your runs with export capability. The spec sheet also lists 5 volt data logging inputs and alerts and records. An integrated accessory system supports additional gauges and can control switches for lighting, compressors, winches, and similar gear. Edge also builds in Wi-Fi updating, so the unit can be kept current. The 84130-DFM is made for 2022.5-2025 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks with the 5.3L or 6.2L V8.
