Dimpled Piston Crowns Give Your L5P Rebuild Something Extra

Most engine swaps put the same style of piston back inside, but this DFC Diesel KORE Series long block gives your L5P a different one. DFC partnered with Speed of Air on the pistons, which have precise, CNC machined dimples on top called turbulators. According to DFC and Speed of Air, those dimples help the flame front burn closer to the cool walls of the combustion chamber, which improves combustion efficiency. They say that can mean better fuel mileage, more torque and horsepower, and improved drivability and pulling power, though results will vary by truck and how it is driven. The pistons also carry a thermal barrier coating on the crowns and an anti friction coating on the skirts. Patented Turbulator Pistons Inside A Rottler Machined Long Block

The DFC Diesel KORE661723L5PSOALB is a remanufactured long block built for 2017-2023 GM Silverado and Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD trucks with the 6.6L Duramax L5P, listed for standard and automatic transmission applications. It uses Speed of Air Hyperformance pistons, which have patented turbulator indentations CNC machined into the piston top to exacting tolerances under ISO 9001 quality standards. Speed of Air says these indentations create a thinner, well attached boundary layer between the air fuel mixture, its flame front, and the combustion chamber walls. That lets the flame burn closer to the cool metal walls, which raises combustion efficiency and supports lower fuel consumption, more torque and horsepower, and better pulling power. The pistons are also coated, with a thermal barrier on the crowns and an anti friction coating on the skirts.
