A High Mileage LML Deserves Pistons Built To Do More

Most replacement engines hand you back the same pistons that were in the original, but this DFC Diesel KORE Series long block does something different. It uses Speed of Air Hyperformance pistons, which DFC developed together with Speed of Air for medium duty diesel applications. The piston tops have precise, CNC machined indentations called turbulators, which are often described simply as dimples. According to DFC and Speed of Air, those dimples help the flame front burn closer to the cool metal walls of the combustion chamber, which improves combustion efficiency. DFC says that can mean increased fuel mileage, better drivability and power, and lower operating costs, though results will vary by truck and how you drive it. The pistons also carry an aerospace proven thermal barrier coating on the crowns and an anti friction coating on the skirts, so more heat stays in the combustion process while friction is reduced. Around those pistons you still get the KORE Series build, with Rottler machined tolerances better than OEM, all new bearings and valves, and Total Seal gapless rings as standard. Turbulators And Coatings Engineered Into Every Piston Crown

The DFC Diesel KORE661116LMLSOALB is a remanufactured long block built for 2011-2016 GM Silverado and Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD trucks with the 6.6L Duramax LML, listed for standard and automatic transmission applications. The Speed of Air Hyperformance pistons use patented turbulator indentations that are CNC machined into the piston top and made to exacting tolerances under ISO 9001 quality standards. These create a thinner, well attached boundary layer between the air fuel mixture, its flame front, and the combustion chamber walls. Speed of Air says this lets the flame burn closer to the cool metal walls, which raises combustion efficiency and supports lower fuel consumption, more torque and horsepower, and better pulling power. The pistons are also coated, with a thermal barrier on the crowns and an anti friction coating on the skirts. The rest of the engine follows DFC's KORE Series process, machined on Rottler equipment to tolerances better than OEM, with all new rings, bearings, gaskets, seals, valves, springs, hardened seats, and cast guides.
