Precision Suspension System for Non-Overload Duramax Models

The BDS 1831FPE Coilover Lift Kit is built specifically for 2020–2025 GM 2500HD/3500HD trucks equipped with the 6.6L Duramax and without rear overload springs. Up front, it replaces the stock torsion bar setup with a coilover conversion using FOX 2.5 Performance Elite coilovers that offer increased suspension travel and improved damping control. These coilovers include remote reservoirs for greater heat dissipation and dual speed compression adjusters for on-the-fly tuning of both high- and low-speed compression. Supporting components include TIG-welded 1.5" OD upper control arms and fully boxed lower arms with internal gussets—designed for strength, alignment correction! The kit also includes multipiece differential relocation brackets to maintain proper CV angles and sway bar links to complete the front-end setup. In the rear, FOX 2.5 Elite shocks come tuned to match the front performance while maintaining load stability and ride quality. It’s a fully integrated suspension system built for serious daily use and off-road capability—without the need for factory overload hardware.

• Models with two-piece rear drive shafts require a carrier bearing drop kit (BDS121612)
• Requires frame bracket modification and minor welding
• Factory torsion bar system requires a special unloading tool
• GM specified tool number is CH48809
• Compatible with diesel models only, including standard and AT4
• Not recommended for gas models due to excessive lift
• Available preload adjustment may not achieve desired ride height on gas models
• Minor trimming may be required with certain wheel and tire combinations
• Trimming typically includes inner fender shrouds and bumper valance corners
• Deeper backspacing and narrower tires reduce trimming needs
• Dually models require aftermarket 20" wheels with max 285/60/20 tires
• Factory 17", 18", and 20" wheels cannot be reused due to control arm clearance
• Coilover spring has high preload and requires a spring compressor for removal
• Failure to use a spring compressor may result in serious injury or death
• Do not increase coilover preload
• Use service kit BDS081203 for replacement ball joints
• Ball joints must be installed with the dot facing inward or outward
• Track width increases 1" per side (2" overall) to improve suspension travel and clearance

• 35 x 12.50 on 17" x 9" with 4.5 to 5.5" backspacing**
• 285/75 on 17" x 9" with 4.5 to 5.5" backspacing*
• 35 x 12.50 on 18" x 9" with 4.5 to 5.5" backspacing**
• 285/70 on 18" x 9" with 4.5 to 5.5" backspacing*
• 35 x 12.50 on 20" x 9" with 4.5 to 5.5" backspacing**
• 295/60 on 20" x 9" with 4.5 to 5.5" backspacing*
• Larger than 20", use 20" wheel specs
