The hot side pipe plays a key role in the charge system. It carries compressed air from the turbocharger over to the intercooler, where that air is cooled before it enters the engine. From the factory, GM uses a restrictive two-piece pipe with rubber boots that can swell, leak, or even blow off under high boost pressure.
