The Coolant Pressure can reach an excess of 70 PSI at high RPMs before the thermostat fully opens. This will cause corroded freeze plugs to leak. And if you don't plan on installing a coolant bypass kit, BD designed a simple and cost effective Frost Plug Plate to fix this issue.
The BD rear frost plug is able to seal the leak without the need to hammer out the old freeze plug, which can be a chore of its own.
For installation we recommend installing the rear frost plug plate when the transmission is removed, the plate can be installed with the transmission in place, however there is not much room to work, and it is crucial that the surface on the back of the motor is cleaned for the o-ring to seal properly.
