We all know that the 6.0L Powerstrokes have their downfalls. But here at Alligator Performance we have learned over the years that many manufacturers have weak points in their initial design. So instead of replacing faulty parts with more faulty parts we have put together a kit that will resolve the major issues we have seen with the 6.0 power plant. We have been selling and installing these kits on our customers trucks for several years now with rave reviews.

The EGR cooler on the 6.0L is poorly designed from the factory, they use oval shaped chambers with cooling fins that are very close together. The problem with this is over time these cooling fins become clogged with soot particles as well as coolant scum restricting the flow through the EGR which results in heat build up in the cooler. When the cooler gets to hot the internal chambers will split and crack, causing the coolant to dump into the oil pan which can score the rods bearing and also build up pressure in the cylinder heads.

The fix for this is to delete the EGR completely, aftermarket EGR coolers are a short term fix and will eventually burst just like the fatory coolers. By deleteing the EGR completely we remove the possibilty of this ever happening again. Another issue we have run into on the 6.0L engine is the factory head bolts stretch and allow coolant to flow under or over the head gasket etching away the head gasket to the point it has to be replaced. By installing aftermarket head studs before this issue arises we can save our customers thousands of dollars in repair costs. ARP is the industry leader in aftermarket fasteners.

If you are replaceing the head studs it is a good idea to replace the head gaskets as well. Re-using the factory head gaskets will almost always result in an issue not far down the road. Black Onyx head gaslets are far superior to the factory supplied gaskets and more affordable to boot.
