Diesel engines consume air at a much higher rate than most gas vehicles. The speed of air flow is referred to in cubic feet per minute (CFM). The higher the CFM, the more difficult it is to stop the contaminants from reaching the vehicles engine. S&B designed a filter specifically targeting the diesel marketplace using 8-layers of cotton, a proprietary oil formula and 30 years of experience making filters. The result is a Performance Air Filter that greatly improves the air flow while still protecting your engine. S&B’s minimum requirement for efficiency on diesel filters is 99.1%. As an example, S&B’s Performance Filter for the Chevrolet Duramax Diesel 6.6L LB7 & LLY improved the air flow over the stock paper filter by 27.6% while stopping 99.44% of the dirt.
